Here is the first in our new series on our client's favorite Inhabit pieces—over the years and chosen from the new season’s styles. We will be talking to one of our loyal customers each delivery to fill up in on our pieces they have made staples in their wardrobes.
These include the knits that they buy in multiples in the same or different colors, purchase the sweaters we update from time to time and fall in love with when we roll out a new season’s styles.
The first of our clients we chat with is jewelry journalist and author Beth Bernstein.
Beth has been buying Inhabit since our inception in 2003.
Inhabit: Why do you keep coming back?
Beth: Inhabit hits the right balance of stylized basics. Touches of detail add an extra edge to staples that I wear every day. Additionally I am drawn to how these sweaters allow my personal style to shine through. They are the perfect backdrop for creating an individual statement.
Inhabit: What is your favorite Inhabit color?
Beth: Grey is my favorite neutral and Inhabit had always offered a range of greys with different undertones that are all go with other parts of my wardrobe.
Inhabit: What other aspects makes you a fan of our knits?
Beth: I love all natural fibers and the cottons are so soft and comfortable against my skin. They are perfect all year round: for layering in winter and by themselves in spring and summer. I absolutely adore cashmere; it’s so warm in the winter and the Inhabit tissue weights in spring and summer feel so light and luxurious.
Inhabit: What are your favorite styles from Inhabit that we feature each season/year?
Beth: I have the basic V and crew cotton in every color. They are perfect for all seasons and important for me—the act as a backdrop to my jewelry. I also am a big fan of the cotton tanks and T-shirts. I love when you come out with new details and elements in the basics or foundations collection. It entices me to buy more because these are pieces I know I will get a lot of wear out of.
Inhabit: What are the styles you want to own this season?
Beth: The cashmere blend hoodie—for running around without looking like you are wearing your workout or yoga clothes. This hoodie adds a stylized slant to easy dressing for the weekends. And I love to be comfortable on the weekends.
For a lightweight way to dress up a casual T-shirt or tank and jeans, the cotton duster is my absolute favorite more serious piece this season. I can also wear it over a tank or T-shirt dress that I already own. It’s the perfect piece for layering and looking pulled together while staying cool and refreshed.
I run around a lot for work and I only wear flat sandals or the newest trend in sneakers. I am partial to the way the cotton ribbed skirt looks with a pair of slide on sneakers or cute flat sandals in a textured leather or suede. On days when I want to feel like I am dressed, yet still easygoing, I would wear one of my wardrobe staples—a slightly oversized white pima cotton shirt loose and free flowing over the skirt. This is the beauty of many of the Inhabit pieces. You can mix something looser with something more form fitting on top or bottom and create a balance between comfy and fashionable.
As for color this season—I am a big fan of the nectar (between a peach and salmon color) and Maya (between a cadet and teal blue) hue. These go with all my whites, greys, blacks, stone and other neutrals that I already own from Inhabit.
